Gall and Gall is the liquor store chain (slijterij) you will see on most Dutch high streets, stocking wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks. For shoppers who buy from these categories regularly, the store offers a paid membership called Gall and Gall Premium, currently €10 a year, which gives a 10% discount on wine, sparkling wine, whisky, and non-alcoholic drinks. This guide covers what the membership includes, what it excludes, and the cheaper option for Albert Heijn Premium members, purely as one of several loyalty programs available to shoppers in the Netherlands.
What Gall and Gall Premium Is
Premium is Gall and Gall's optional paid loyalty tier, sitting above the free standard account. Where a free account just gives access to general offers, Premium adds a permanent percentage discount on specific categories, along with some extra perks for people who shop there often.
What the Membership Includes
- 10% off wine, sparkling wine, whisky, and non-alcoholic drinks. This is a standing discount on regular shelf prices in these categories, not a one time offer.
- A welcome discount for new members, currently 20% off a single bottle up to €50, on signing up.
- Exclusive Premium deals, which are separate flash sales and member only pricing on selected products.
- Access to tastings and events, including priority invitations to masterclasses and product launches at participating stores.
- A free subscription to PROEF!, the store's own digital magazine covering food pairing and drink guides.
What the 10% Discount Does Not Cover
The discount excludes items already part of another store promotion, regular soft drinks outside the non-alcoholic drinks range, and fortified drinks such as port, sherry, and vermouth. It is worth checking the product page before assuming the Premium price applies.
Cost and the Albert Heijn Premium Discount
The standard Premium fee is €10 per year. If you already hold an Albert Heijn Premium membership, Gall and Gall offers a bundle discount that brings the price down to €5 per year. According to Gall and Gall's own membership page, Premium members save an average of €81 a year, though actual savings depend entirely on how much you buy in the discounted categories.
Note that free delivery is not confirmed as a standard Premium perk at the time of writing. Gall and Gall's general online shipping threshold is free delivery from €55, and Premium membership on its own does not appear to lower that threshold, so it is worth checking current terms before assuming shipping is included.
How to Sign Up
Sign up through the Gall and Gall website or app, choose Premium membership (using your Albert Heijn Premium discount link if you have one), and pay the annual fee online. The membership activates immediately and applies automatically both online and in store once you scan your card or app at checkout.
A Note for DesiBiz Readers
Not everyone in our community drinks alcohol, and that is entirely fine. This guide is included simply because Gall and Gall Premium is a common Dutch loyalty program readers may come across or be asked about, alongside the Indian Restaurants and Networking for Entrepreneurs topics where social gatherings in the Netherlands often come up.
