The Kruidvat Club card is free, takes a minute to activate in the app, and earns you 1 point for every €1 you spend on toiletries, vitamins, and household basics at the Netherlands' largest drugstore chain. For expats who are pregnant or have a baby on the way, it is also the key to a free welcome box of baby essentials worth roughly €60.
What the Kruidvat Club Card Gives You
You can pick up a physical card in-store or activate a digital one in the Kruidvat app. Scanning it at checkout gives you access to member-only "Club" prices in the weekly folder, builds up points toward free products, and unlocks personalized discount vouchers.
Earning and Spending Points
You earn 1 point per €1 spent. Once your balance reaches roughly 50 points, you can start exchanging points in-store for free items such as snacks, tote bags, or personal care minis. At 200 points, you can take €1.00 off a purchase of €10 or more, though the per-point value works out better if you redeem for free products than for the straight discount. You can also donate accumulated points to charities such as CliniClowns, KWF Kankerbestrijding, or KIKA.
A note on the numbers: some older guides quote a 75-point threshold for free products, but current sources on the program put the free-product threshold closer to 50 points. If you want the exact figure for your situation, check the balance screen in your own app, since thresholds can shift between campaigns.
Birthday Treat and Charity Option
Kruidvat sends members a small birthday treat, commonly a chocolate bar plus a handful of bonus points, as a coupon in the app around your birthday. It is a nice touch rather than a major saving, but it costs nothing to collect.
The Baby Box Worth About €60
If you are expecting or have a newborn, registering for Kruidvat's baby program gets you a free gift box valued at around €60, typically packed with diapers, wipes, baby wash, and a mix of house-brand and name-brand samples (contents rotate). You also earn double points on Kruidvat-brand baby purchases until your child turns one. If you are working through a newborn checklist for your family in the Netherlands, this is worth adding alongside the other paperwork and gear on your list.
Weekly Club Deals and Day-Out Discounts
Many items in the weekly folder carry a separate, lower "Club price" available only to cardholders, and Kruidvat periodically offers members discounted or early-access tickets to Dutch attractions such as theme parks and zoos.
How to Sign Up
Download the Kruidvat app, register your details, and toggle on Kruidvat Club membership. Scan your digital barcode at the register before you pay to start earning points from your very first visit.
